Director, Data Management

Purpose of the Role This role is pivotal to the building and operationalizing of the data necessary for enterprise data and analytics initiatives. The focus of the work will be working with cross-functional teams to analyze, model and interpret data to build models, reports and dashboards that create analytical insights. This role will work collaboratively with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable data insights while also helping identify feasibility and value. This role will be an advocate for data literacy with both the direct team and LifeLabs overall. This role will analyze and interpret data, have a demonstrated ability to use visualization tools such as PowerBI and have a passion for investigating information to provide deeper insights. As this role will collaborate with many different groups, strong communication and relationship management skills are needed.

Core Accountabilities

Creating value from businessdriven data and analytics initiatives
Supporting the business and other stakeholders in their data driven objectives. This means supporting through the various phases, identification of the right use cases and support prioritization based on feasibility and value
In the ideation phase, help with the development of a minimum viable product. During implementation phase, make sure the product or service is adopted and measured for impact
Ensure that proposed models follow data architecture guidelines and best practices. Creation of tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehousing standards
Demonstrate analytical thinking for translating data and business needs into data visualizations
Ensure that data security is maintained within datasets by enforcing security standards such as row level security
Proactively monitor industry, functional and technology trends to guide business partners on emerging opportunities
Provide consultive support and advice on technology and visualization techniques to business partners to elevate the organization capabilities in using tools such as PowerBI
Participate in ensuring compliance and governance during data use. Working in collaboration with the Data Governance Analyst(s) and data stewards to ensure that policies are adhered to
Provide information about data lineage and governance from various data sources. Provide input to Data Governance Analyst(s) for Data Quality monitoring
Actively promote the available data and analytics capabilities to business leaders with the help of the Data Management team
Establish and lead the Center of Excellence to foster a strong community of practice

Minimum Qualification and Skills

Degree or diploma in data science, computer science, or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a comparable role
Experience with any/most of: Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services and Azure Data Lake, PowerBI
Understanding of various data types and associated lifecycles (e.g. master data, reference data, transactional data, etc.)
Has good judgement, a sense of urgency and commitment to learning
Excellent written/verbal communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
