What can I expect to do in this role?: You will plan and manage security services and emergency management for the Ministry of Finance including, but not limited to the following duties:
- develop the Ministry's emergency management and physical security plans
- conduct threat and risk assessments including the monitoring of potential threats and the analysis of threats against buildings occupied by ministry staff and programs
- update and/or develop new physical security and emergency plans
- establish and maintain stakeholder partnerships and networks within the ministry and with OPS ministries/agencies
How do I qualify?:
Technical Knowledge:
- You demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, Ontario Fire Code and Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management guidelines; and policies and/or standards related to emergency management practices and implementation.
- You have expert knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Code, Provincial Offences Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Trespass to Property Act, plus other legislation, caselaw, policies and standards related to physical security, asset protection, and personnel safety.
- You have sound knowledge of government business, administrative structures, management processes and internal/external reporting requirements.
- You are as skilled practitioner of security management principles and practices; and possess expert knowledge of physical security controls measures of various security controls and measures to prevent or mitigate security threats. These skills are typically obtained through industry certifications in physical security, security management, security project management and business continuity planning.
Analytical and Project Management Skills:
- You can identify and analyze potential security issues and their potential impacts.
- You demonstrate the ability to plan and coordinate indepth reviews and investigations, and manage technical teams.
- You have prior experience managing projects and contracts.
- You have the ability to work under stress during emergency responses and security incidents and in meeting tight deadlines.
Communication and Consultation Skills:
- You can advise and maintain effective liaison with senior management staff, develop partnerships, sensitize staff.
- You demonstrate excellent written communication skills to write policies, directives, guidelines, manuals, procedures and comprehensive reports/analysis.
- You demonstrate strong consultation, issue management, negotiation and relationship building.
