Job Summary

  • The Enterprise Application Services (EAS) department in ITS provides services to support and improve university administration by implementing, upgrading and maintaining a variety of administrative systems and information technology platforms. Reporting to the Associate Director, Project & Portfolio Management, the Project Manager & Business Process Analyst will be responsible for undertaking project assignments in support of Enterprise Software Systems used at Dalhousie University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fosters innovative strategic approaches to analysis and solutions delivery, performing systems analysis at the highest technical level.
  • Researches, on a technical basis, the best methods for accommodating current business when implementing/developing new systems.
  • Works within established timeframes to design and develop software solutions that meet functional and technical specifications, ensuring that all development integrates well with the longterm needs of the university's Enterprise Application Services.
  • Develops detailed project planning schedules on assigned projects and provides management with ongoing project status information, and provides leadership and direction to the IT staff assigned to the projects.
  • Investigates new initiatives and best practices in the IT and Higher Ed industries. Effectively shares this knowledge with others in the unit and teams.

Note

  • The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of inperson work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field (Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management, etc), plus five years' experience in a similar role (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience in business analysis and project management in a technical / IT environment.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner or similar ERP system.
  • Experience in process improvement and change management methodology and practices.
  • Highly motivated and innovative thinking ability with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Assets

  • Certifications in areas such as Lean Six Sigma, Organizational Change Management, Project Management, Business Analysis or Process Management.
