Residential Case Worker - All Nations Healing

Full-Time, Permanent June 2023


The Residential Caseworker acts to assist in the day-to-day operations of the All Nations Healing Residence, a 3-month female adult house designed to accommodate 18 years of age and older.

The All Nation Healing program, under which these new addiction beds will be integrated, will provide residential programs and reintegration supports to women experiencing complex mental health and addiction issues, which could include chronic homelessness and gender-based violence, and trauma.

This innovative program will offer a therapeutic holistic approach utilizing a harm reduction model.

The treatment model will be tailored to the needs of each woman, guided by individualized treatment plans, developed in consultation with the participant through the formation of therapeutic supports.

The All Nations Healing Program will provide quality treatment outcomes which include ongoing case assessments and screening, utilizing a strength-based approach that is trauma informed and women centric.

The Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing will also be a core part of the treatment model. The position is a 40 hours/ week schedule, based on a rotating shift schedule which includes days, afternoons, overnights and on call responsibilities


Areas of Responsibility:

Provides primary counselling, resource referrals, crisis intervention, conflict resolution and support to all residents

  • Participates in the shift schedule rotation as part of our 24 hour staffing model, as well as an oncall rotation
  • Maintains accurate and uptodate records and statistics regarding all aspects of service delivery
  • Acquainted with each resident's individual Plan of Care, identify needs, recommend changes in individual program plans, and provide assistance that is consistent with the overall plan for each individual
  • Provides statistical and evaluative information to management levels when required
  • Participates in the Case Management Team of All Nations Healing; Primary Counsellor(s), Program Coordinator, Manager of All Nations Healing, and other Community Supports
  • Provides primary supervision, develop Plans of Care and provide referrals to community agencies to assigned case load
  • Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.
A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field (i.e. Social Work, Social Service, Mental Health and Addiction studies, etc.)

  • 13 years counselling experience in addictions or a related field
  • Broad knowledge of addictions treatments, mental illness and community resources
  • Experienced sense and awareness of ethical boundaries and clinical reporting obligations
  • The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to engage, support, and interact with clients using a traumainformed approach
  • Experience managing clients with complex needs in varying stages of change
  • Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming
  • Ability to handle crisis situations
  • Possesses strong decisionmaking, case management, conflict resolution and leadership skills
  • Strong selfmotivation and ability to work independently, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven leadership skills and strong knowledge of community resources
  • The ability to work well and collaborate with diverse partners, community groups, stakeholders, and other key supports in the community
  • Detailoriented and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, plan, and manage projects and initiatives
  • Valid First Aid / CPR certification
  • A Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) criminal background check
