We are currently seeking a Canadian Tax Manager. In this role, you will be called upon to participate in a host of diversified files relating to tax compliance or tax accounting in a constantly changing context and within a dynamic team of 12 people dedicated to Canadian, American, and international taxation.
The person will work at the Montreal office, located at 1 Place Ville Marie, one day a week.
When your actions lead to success.Tax compliance**- Oversee and participate in the entire process of preparing Canadian tax returns (T2 and T5013)

Coordinate the calculation of optimal tax instalments
Monitor tax assessments and keep tax balances up to date
Review tax analysis work
Optimise information gathering and tax return preparation processes
Maintain uptodate internal files on an ongoing basis

Tax accounting

Analyse and review quarterly and annual tax provisions for Canadian legal entities and at consolidated level for the public entity
Review reconciliations between tax provisions and prior year tax returns ("trueup")
Reconciling statutory and effective tax rates for individual companies and the consolidated entity
Participate in the presentation of tax results to management
Reviewing the tax note to the financial statements and the underlying analyses.
Monitoring tax continuity by legal entity (advance payments, provisions, notices of assessment, etc.)
Ensure compliance with IFRS and Regulation 52109

Tax audits

Coordinate tax audits and respond to requests in a timely manner
Ensure that the required information is obtained and delivered on time, while minimising any adverse impact on tax assessments
Maintain communications with the various levels of government
Reconciling differences and settling disputes

Other duties

Identify and participate in tax savings and tax planning opportunities
Ensure that new tax developments are implemented on an ongoing basis
Keep tax knowledge up to date and participate in training team members
Participate in the integration of acquired businesses or the sale of businesses
Provide support to business entities

When your expertise drives us.

University degree in accounting
CPA accounting designation (required or equivalent experience)
Tax training: CICA In-Depth Tax Course or graduate diploma in taxation
At least 7 years' experience in tax compliance and tax accounting
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Knowledge of Taxprep
Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Longview, an asset
Bilingual (French and English) as daily communication with North American operations is essential to the position.
