We are looking for a full-time
Librarian, Research Services. As a key member of the Library Services team, you will be reporting to the Manager, Library Services.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal and business research and reference services and training to lawyers and students.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and high quality legal and business research, analysis and reference services on complex matters to lawyers, students and staff
- Advise students and lawyers on technical research strategy and methodology
- Provide current awareness services by regularly monitoring legislation, case law and media and advising lawyers of relevant developments
- Collaborate with Library team, Research Lawyers and Directors of Professional Support and Legal Talent to develop and deliver innovative research instruction and training to lawyers and students
- Evaluate and recommend new research tools and resources
- Participate in the overall development and management of the library's collection
- Contribute to and actively participate in staff meetings, and attend professional learning and development events
- Provide assistance to others during absences as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science/Information Studies is required
- 23 years experience providing legal and business research services
- Ability to think critically and analytically in order to provide accurate, highquality research services to lawyers and students
- Discretion, confidentiality and attention to detail are essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team, managing the prioritization and completion of tasks in a timely and effective manner with mínimal supervision
- Keen interest in learning and development
- Ability to adapt to the changing framework of library and information management services and practices
- Demonstrates excellent client service and ability to anticipate client needs
