PROFILE


Working within our Advocacy group with a focus on Health Law, the
Legal Administrative Assistant will be relied upon to provide a high level of professional support to one or more professionals working within a collegial team atmosphere.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing full legal administrative work of a responsible and confidential nature
  • Organizing and expediting the flow of work through the professional's practice, initiating any followup action as appropriate.
  • Accurately preparing correspondence and legal documents with mínimal direction.
  • Using initiative and good judgment to relieve the professional of administrative detail.
  • Preparing and organizing meeting and briefing materials for the professional.
  • Maintaining wellorganized files in a proprietary electronic file management platform.
  • Supporting the practice group in other administrative tasks.
  • Transcribing and typing legal documents and correspondence.
  • Liaising between the legal professionals and various internal and external individuals, groups and clients at all levels.
  • Managing the professional's calendar including travel arrangements.
  • Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant postsecondary education (such as a University degree or Administrative/Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma) coupled with a minimum of 8 years' experience working in a professional environment (litigation experience is an asset)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients' needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills, supported by excellent written and oral communication.
  • Good keyboard and dictatyping skills are required.
  • Positive, cando attitude and excellent problemsolving skills, with the ability to overcome challenges, to work with changing priorities, and to think 'outside the box' when looking for solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work product, often under tight timelines.
  • Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary.
  • Handle stress in a businesslike manner.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) would be an asset.
