Corporate Development, Applied Research and International (CDARI) is SAIT's face to industry. Our instructors and staff are passionate about student and instructor success, in an environment that values applied academic excellence, teamwork, collaboration and driving innovation. Our non-credit courses are aligned to industry and designed to meet the needs of employers today and in the future.

The division centralizes and supports industry clients to develop customized non-credit corporate training for their employees and take their innovative product and process ideas to market locally, nationally and internationally.

Within CDARI sits a number of support functions including Business Operations, Continuing Education, International, Corporate Training, Applied Research, and Business Intelligence.

Our Corporate Training opportunities are typically scheduled during the daytime (i.e., Monday to Friday 8 am to 3 pm ) to suit a diverse learner population, ranging from students upgrading foreign credentials to those changing careers mid-life.

Our learners are mature, focused, and want to be challenged.

Note:

We are tentatively planning for an upcoming delivery with one of our corporate clients for a Introduction to Auto and Heavy Duty Technician running in June - July 2023.

The Role:

The instructor will:

Present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline
Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline
Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment
Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to students
Attend all SAIT training as required
Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
Be an active and engaged member of SAIT
Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors
All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications:

Must hold an Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship and Proficiency or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status.
Must have at least two (2) years' experience as a Journeyperson in either offroad equipment and/or onroad vehicles or equivalent.
Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies specifically in: diesel engines, electrical & electronics, air and hydraulic braking systems, and suspension systems.
Prior teaching or training experience in adult education is an asset
Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams or Zoom)
Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
Comfortable speaking to the public
Positive & respectful attitude
Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
Excellent communication skills
Ability to organize and present written information
