- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum two (2) year's recent acute care experience including coordination of inter-facility patient transfers
- Related transfer and/or bed management experience and emergency and/or critical care experience preferred.
- Computer skills with knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office and medical electronic record applications/systems and other relevant software and/or database applications.

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, and the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the Patient Transfer and Flow Office (PTFO) Clinical Transfer Nurse (CTN) is responsible for utilizing transportation systems to facilitate safe, timely, and cost-effective transfers and repatriations that meet the care needs of patients and the operational requirements of Northern Health facilities.
The Clinical Transfer Nurse competently applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting program services to all patients requiring transfer.
Responsible for patient advocacy, negotiating with regional access representatives, ensuring provincial policy adherence and escalation where appropriate. The Clinical Transfer Nurse works in collaboration with the PTFO Patient Transfer Leads and Cardiac Triage Coordinator, hospital staff and physicians, bed utilization coordinators, other health authorities, BC Emergency Health Services, and transportation agencies (. BC Patient Transfer Network and Alberta RAAPID) to ensure the coordination and timely delivery of both ground and air transportation resources to support patient flow through the health care continuum. The incumbent ensures timely and effective escalation of transfer-and flow-related issues to achieve logical solutions and mitigation strategies. The PTFO functions within a call-center environment to arrange patient transfers between health authority facilities.The Clinical Transfer Nurse is a member of a multi-disciplinary NH Patient Transfer and Flow Team under the Emergency, Trauma, and Transfer Services Program, working in daily collaboration with the NH Patient Transfer Leads and NH Cardiac Triage Coordinator.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: : Days - 08:30 to 16:00, Rotating. This rotation is split between 1 other part time Clinical Transfer Nurse along with 1 Clinical Transfer Nurse - Relief line. The rotation works out to be about 1-2 weekends per month, with a rotation of 4 or 5 shifts in a row.
