Team & Job Overview


Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking an experienced access to information professional as an Advisor to join its Privacy and Information Risk team.

Reporting to the Director, Privacy and Information Risk, the Advisor is an experienced members of the team that oversees compliance with EDC's response obligations under Canada's access to information and privacy legislation.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the Advisor manages deadlines and deliverables on simultaneous files. They write at a professional level and prepare accurate and concise project documentation and reports for a senior audience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently handles response to access and personal information requests in accordance with legislated requirements and EDC policies and procedures.
  • Develops and manages strong internal relationships with various business teams, working collaboratively with stakeholders to meet EDC's accessrelated responsibilities.
  • Leads and reports on response to complaints and regulatory inquiries, including investigations within the scope of the role.
  • Develops documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of procedures and guidance on access to information.
  • Designs and facilitates communications and awareness initiatives to inform internal stakeholders on accessrelated responsibilities.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Law, public administration or related social sciences field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in access to information, privacy or similar experience (e.g., freedom of information, data protection laws).
  • Experience interacting with regulators and handling complaints and investigations which includes reviewing, analyzing, and handling sensitive information.
  • Advanced oral and written skills in English for technical documents and presentations.

Assets

  • Recognized Access To Information (ATI) credentials.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English & French).
  • Experience in responding to requests for personal information, including advising on the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information.
  • Experience delivering training to internal and/or external stakeholders on topics relating to privacy, access to information standards.
  • AccessPro Case Management or other case management software experience.

Salary Range

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $79,424 to $105,899 plus performancebased incentive #L
