When the hotel opened in 1929 it was the tallest building in the British Common Wealth and contained 1,048 rooms, a concert hall, library, extensive bakery, radio station and even a hospital.

Today, this essential downtown landmark has completed a multi-million dollar transformation, reimagining its lobby, rooms, dining venues, event spaces, and Fairmont Gold - the property's exclusive hotel within a hotel luxury experience.

Another stunning chapter for Fairmont Royal York has begun.


The In-Room Dining Operator will accurately take food and beverage orders from the guest and must successfully punch in the orders and relay all details to the captains and servers for timely delivery.

They maximize sales through upselling and must be accommodating with guest concerns in a prompt, professional pleasant manner.

  • Perform all specific duties as assigned by the In-Room Dining Leaders and Captain.
  • Takes responsibility for extending service and exceeding guest expectations.
  • Perform opening and closing duties according to outlined standards of the department.
  • Excellent knowledge of all menu items, specials, dietary restrictions and able to answer all general inquiries.
  • Ensure that all guest's special requests details are met.
  • Always conduct themselves in a pleasant and helpful attitude towards guests, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean environment and keep clear of hazards and malfunctioning equipment, reporting any malfunctioning equipment to your supervisor.
  • Organize all daytoday tasks such as amenities, preorders and daily orders.
  • Suggestively sell items and anticipate guest needs and desires.
  • Relay all concerns to leadership team and record any problems that arise.
  • Follows telephone techniques and procedures.
  • Order and keep maintained the stationary for the department.
  • Adhere to ALL Safe Standards, ensuring all hygiene and prevention measures are being met.
  • Ensures flawless amenity billing, delivery, filing and preparation.
  • Adhere to alcohol handling procedures and policies.
  • Adhere to all LQA standards set for the department.
  • Will work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.

Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Frequent ascending or descending stairs and ramps.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food and beverage.
  • Cash handling/transaction abilities and a working knowledge of POS Systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team player attitude.
  • Thoroughly organized and attention to detail oriented individual.
  • Must be knowledgeable of food products, cooking methods, wines and spirits.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent Computer Skills
  • Ability to multitask

Must provide proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
