The recruitment of a new research professor in the emerging field of ketotherapeutics will allow the development of a better understanding of how ketotherapeutic interventions can potentially be beneficial for health.

UdeS and Nestlé Health Science have developed a partnership to create this Clinical Research Chair in Ketotherapeutics which will have a renewable annual budget.

The recruitment of a new research professor will permit the expansion of research in this emerging field with direct support from the Chair's endowment fund.

With an aging population and few promising treatments for neurodegenerative or cardiometabolic disorders, it is crucial assure continued research in this field.


The main goals of this Research Chair are to strengthen our understanding of ketone metabolism and to open up new research directions into their potential clinical uses to treat or prevent disease.


The added value of this Chair includes:

  • Maintaining the Université de Sherbrooke as a world leader in clinical ketotherapeutics.
  • Training students and physicians to continue research in the field of ketotherapeutics in Québec, Canada or elsewhere.
  • Expanding and consolidating the local, national and international collaborations developed by Professor Stephen Cunnane in the field of energy metabolism and therapeutic effects of ketones.

Expertise sought

  • Scientific relevance of the proposal.
  • Structuring impact of the proposal with respect to the research themes of the Université de Sherbrooke and its programs.

Career interruption

Principal tasks

  • Train graduate students.
  • Develop a clinical (mainly) and basic research program.
  • Participate actively in university life.
  • Contribute to the local community.

Requirements:


  • Have a keen interest in and aptitude for teaching, the pedagogical process, research, development and innovation.
  • Demonstrate a strong capacity to supervise graduate students.
  • Have solid experience in research in ketotherapeutics recognized at an international level.
  • Have an excellent record of publications peerreviewed at the international level.
  • Demonstrate leadership, capacity for innovation, strong communication skills and ability to integrate efficiently and harmoniously with partners internal and external to the university.
  • Be able to teach in French or acquire this ability relatively rapidly.
  • Experience of inter/multi/transdisciplinary research and knowledge transfer would be an advantage.

Work conditions
The working conditions are governed by the collective agreement in force.

Regular, full-time tenure-track position.
