Shipping/Receiving, Customer Service and Production
Assistant Position
DLF Canada Inc.
(Premier Pacific Seeds) is a successful grass seed wholesale company that has been operating in Port Kells, Surrey, for the last 23 years, and is part of global seed company, DLF.

- This position is responsible for working with the production team in various aspects of daily operations, reporting to the warehouse manager.
SPECIFIC JOB ELEMENTS
Shipping & Receiving
- Responsible for daily workflow on their respective shifts.
- Accurately prepick orders as they are assigned
- Ensure orders are loaded in a timely and safe manner
- Create BOL's for drivers picking up and retain a signed copy for records
- Book freight for outbound shipments including reviewing quotes for the most costeffective shipment
- Update shipping schedule/freight companies, as orders may be updated for product changes, quantities or delivery dates
- Schedule delivery times for incoming products
- Unload and count (or delegate) all products being received any discrepancies to be reported to
- Check for damaged products
- Update/responsible for shipping rate table through use of existing carriers and new carriers
- Keep shipping and receiving documents on file
Customer Service
- Provide customer service/take orders for walkin customers
- Fulfil walkin orders, as required
- Check physical seed inventory levels, as requested, for sales team
Warehouse Duties
- Promote good housekeeping practices and ensure warehouse is clean, swept, tidy at all times
- Maximize warehouse space and participate/provide input into space saving ideas
- Organize product lines in designated areas
- Participate in inventory counts (cycle counting, yearend counting, various counting as needed) who will be responsible for tracking and recording all count results
- Suggest ways to be more efficient (this may include best shipping and receiving practices, storage, etc.)
- Attend, if applicable, warehousing seminars, company meetings
- Store and record damaged inventory separate from regular stocked items
- Communicate with other departments on a daily basis
- Become familiar with company software so that you may create reports that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations
Blending, Mixing & Packaging - As Required
- Filling appropriate packaging and stacking products while maintaining quality control
- Oversee all tagging and labeling including quality control, staff supervision and quality assurance
- Achieve target productivity (kg/man hours)
- Responsible for cleanup and keeping the production area clean and orderly.
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of production equipment. Notifying Supervisor of any maintenance or repair requirements
- Ensure proper packaging and pallets are used and are in good shape. No stains misprints, tears etc.
- Ensure bags are sealed properly and straight. Ensure Logos are not cut off and seal as high as possible on the bags
- General appearance of the finished product must be as high as possible to reflect the high
- Ensure production orders are properly filled out: Mixing sheets completed with product
- Record rejects / quarantined product
- Keep the Warehouse Manager informed
- Promote good housekeeping practices that reflect the highquality image associated Premier
- Perform other duties as assigned
Health & Safety
- Promote and contribute to a safe, healthy work environment by maintaining a zerotolerance standard of reducing risk of threat or injury, ensuring adequate compliance with legislative requirements and Company policy.
- Wear proper PPE
Qualifications
- Must be able lift up to 55 lbs.
- Effective oral and written English communications skills
- Forklift license (or obtain within 60 days)
- Outstanding organization skills
Working Conditions
- Standing long periods of time in the manufacturing plant
- Dust and noise in the manufacturing plant
- Physical activities including lifting (up to 55lbs), climbing, kneeling may be required.
- Forklift awareness in the manufacturing plant
- Must wear CSA Approved Safety Shoes at all times
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
$25.00-$28.00 per hour
