    Description
    Responsibilities :

    · Basic knowledge of HV systems and associated HV equipment.

    · Work under the direction of a Principal Engineer or the designate on all aspects of high-voltage substation physical layout design.

    · Understand and apply all applicable codes, industry and client standards for high voltage substation design.

    · Prepare Ampacity drawings, site plan drawings, substation layout drawings, elevation drawings, structure and equipment grounding detail drawings, cable layout drawings, and equipment connection module drawings.

    · Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure overall design conformance is accomplished.

    · Review engineered outputs to ensure compliance with project defined scopes and client requirements.

    · Collect, interpret, and organize project engineering and vendor data.

    · Interface with senior personnel to resolve potential technical and project issues.

    · Assist in compiling and maintaining internal engineering standards and work practices.

    Qualifications :

    · The successful candidate should possess a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.

    · Registered as an EIT with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an attention to detail are essential.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Entry Level Position. Previous experience working on HV Substation designs for Utilities in North America would be considered an asset.
  • Previous exposure to drafting software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD would be an asset
