Your day-to-day will look like:


As the Operations Manager, you report to the division's General Manager, having responsibility and oversight of all field operations with the goal of executing profitable construction projects.

The Operations Manager takes the lead with ensuring successful execution of various construction projects throughout
Vancouver, BC and
Edmonton, AB.

This role is responsible for driving operational activities, while leading high-performing team members working on the projects and sites.

The Operations Manager ensures safety, profitability, timeliness, quality, and conformance with the design, and that all work performed aligns with the company's goals and objectives.


Budget Management:


  • Provide input and recommendations to GM on budget allocations.
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are accurately procured within set budgets.
  • Prepare and monitor revenue forecasts.
  • Ensure all team members are working within outlined budgets and guidelines.
  • Regularly communicate production reports to team members and senior leadership to ensure we are achieving goals, targets, and contractual obligations.

Logistics & Project Planning:


  • Assume overall responsibility for executing project activities related to the division's work plans, including coordination with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment is in good working condition, resolving any functionality challenges that come up.
  • Coordinate project development/progress meetings with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support new market and business initiatives by optimizing resources, assets, and competitiveness.

Operational & Safety Management:


  • Implement operational strategies across a functional business unit to optimize costs and schedules for all projects, while cultivating positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure all operational practices are sustainable and profitable and align with the company's strategic objectives
  • Monitor and track all operational developments in partnership with internal departmental leaders.
  • Act as a seniorlevel contact for all operational activities, addressing questions or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage internal/external conflict and solve complex operational challenges.
  • Successfully assess and manage all construction operational risks, requesting support from senior leadership where required.
  • Work with the Safety team to ensure best practice safety protocols and methods are followed.

People Management:


  • Hire top operational talent, promote, discipline, and exit team members as required.
  • Coach, develop, and facilitate annual performance reviews for team members.
  • Set individual and team goals and provide training opportunities where possible.
  • Recognize and reward employees that demonstrate a good work ethic, positive attitude and dedication towards the company and coworkers.
  • Promote a positive Hall culture amongst work colleagues, departments, and job sites.
  • Prioritize team and cross departmental cohesion, teamwork, and communication.
  • Delegate, supervise and assign work to staff members.
  • Be a progressive, collaborative, and dynamic leader and communicator. Positively guide directreports and staff members in project planning and execution.

You bring the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:


  • Preferred Qualifications_:

MUST be eligible to work in Canada
  • Valid working Visa, PR or Citizenship required**:
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in construction.
  • Education: Certificate, Diploma and/or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, considered an asset.
  • Designations: PMP, P.Eng considered an asset.
  • Proven, progressively senior leadership experience demonstrating operational excellence.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset.
  • Preferred Technical Skills:_
  • Strong ability to define, lead and implement construction operations and follow best in class construction processes.
  • Contribute to the division's budgeting and financial review processes.
  • Strong project management and people leadership skills to proactively identify efficiency issues and propose solutions.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to execute on operational strategy and drive process improvements.
  • Interpersonal Skills:_
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and lead team members.
  • Proactively liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possess strong leadership competencies to direct and execute all aspects of project planning and execution.
  • Ability to approve, recommend, and/or act regarding team talent, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
