***- 75 hours biweekly

  • Reporting to the Administrator, you will plan, develop and oversee the food production and services to residents and manage housekeeping and laundry services within the facility

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, performance manage and discipline all kitchen, housekeeping and laundry staff
  • Create/review/analyse/modify menus and recipes for the home twice a year following the Ministry of Health standards for nutritional requirements and sanitation procedures, including therapeutic diets
  • Communicate with all staff to ensure the menu is in compliance with Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Dietary Compliance Standards. Account for residents with culture and diversity needs, texture modifications, and diet restrictions of the residents
  • Manages food preparation for resident and staff meals in accordance with sanitation and safety regulations, the menu, and production methods best suited for nutritional quality and appearance of the product
  • Ensure all Public Health regulations and Ministry of Labour regulations are in compliance
  • Develops/reviews dietary, housekeeping and laundry policies yearly or as needed
  • Purchases, maintains, coordinates repair of equipment and manages staff instruction on use
  • Purchases, receives, stores and controls products to be used by the kitchen, housekeeping and laundry departments
  • Ensure a high quality of cleanliness in the facility is achieved
  • Participate in the budgeting process
  • Ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS, and monitors the general safety procedures in place on an ongoing basis
  • Establish Quality Control procedures and ensure they are monitored and maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two years of food service management experience in health care
  • Graduate of a recognized 2year diploma program in food services supervision or management, or a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics
  • Be a member in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM)
  • Completion of a recognized food safety awareness program required
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Food Premises Regulation, The Fixing Long Term Care Act 2021 and its Regulations, and the OH&S Act
  • Experience using PointClickCare system and Staff Schedule Care
  • Great computer skills and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge and experience in menu redevelopment for seniors, in a long term care setting
  • Proven excellence in fiscal management of departmental budgets, contracts and project costs
  • Knowledgeable of nutritional needs of longterm care residents, including therapeutic diets, texture modified and nutritional supplements
  • Knowledge of evidencebased practices and prevailing best practices related to housekeeping, laundry and infection control

SKILLS

  • Have a sincere interest in people, the elderly in particular, and possess a genuine sensitivity to their needs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and adaptable to rapidly changing demands
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written in English) and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated skills working independently as well as effectively leading a team
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certification is an asset
  • Environmental Services courses in housekeeping and laundry is an asset
