Manulife Bank & Trust's Mortgage Underwriting department is looking for a Mortgage Underwriter to join the team You can be based anywhere in Canada.

Opportunity for cross training within the mortgage residential team.


Job Summary:


Responsibilities:


Key Accountabilities:


  • Review documents submitted by sales partners to identify and decision whether documents adhere to internal guidelines.
  • Ensure files are properly documented for reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills with our sales partners.
  • Ability to process a high work volume of files with attention to detail.
  • Manage your files with appropriate communication while working closely with the salesperson associated with the file.

Job Requirements (Knowledge/Skills/Competencies):


  • Two years' experience in the financial industry.
  • Mortgage underwriting knowledge is a requirement.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service and decisioning skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and handle several tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of banking systems.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is preferred.
  • Identify and solve issues requiring a high degree of judgment and recommend solutions.
  • Overtime during peak season is a requirement.

Key Challenges:


  • Multitasking, efficiently organizing and prioritizing workflows.
  • Manage service daily to ensure Standards are met and/or exceeded.
  • Interact with sales partners and other Bank departments to identify, resolve, and respond to issues as they arise.
