NOTE:
These positions are due to commence August 2023.

NAIT's Machinist apprenticeship program will train students to set up and operate precision metal cutting and grinding machines, such as lathes, milling machines, drills and grinders.

The programs will allow students the skills to make and repair products made from metal, plastic, rubber têxtile, fiberglass and alloys.

Students will also learn how to incorporate manual machining knowledge with CNC machining techniques.

Machinist apprenticeship program at our Main Campus is currently recruiting for continuing instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
Respond to student issues
Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute
Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High School Diploma
Completion of Machinist Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent required including Inter-Provincial Red Seal an asset
Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.
Teaching experience an asset

Remuneration:
Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Instructor salary grid $2, $4,284.34 biweekly, however, starting salary for a new hire averages between $2, ,243.48 biweekly based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement_
