Job Summary:
Duties:
- Establish site strategies, systems and controls to ensure company objectives and compliance in the areas of environmental health and safety.
- Establish and report key EHS performance metrics to ensure scorecard objectives are met by site.
- Develop and maintain companywide EHS programs including proactive injury/accident prevention, business continuity plan, hazardous chemical management, and employee training.
- Drive employee engagement to create and foster a proactive, empowered safety culture.
- Assess, document, and make recommendations on health and safety improvements in the workplace at all Company locations.
- Perform workplace inspections to ensure compliance with all EH&S legislation.
- Perform inspections and audits of facilities, offsite workplaces, equipment and processes identifying risks and make recommendations and/or improvements to current policies and practices.
- Write policies and procedures to improve health and safety in the workplace and train employees on any changes. Responsible for company H&S manual and keeping it up to date.
- Conduct regular field visits to audit compliance and to provide recommendations to improve safety as required.
- Track and document all accidents and near misses understanding causes and recommend changes to prevent future incidents.
- Lead JHSC, prepare the minutes for the JHSC, and post in a timely manner.
- Support managers and employees with workplace injury/illness claims and return to work initiatives including filing claims and full claims management.
- Other related duties as required.
- Strong practical knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Exceptional crossfunctional people skills to engage the staff in daily environmental, health and safety guidelines.
- Knowledge working with ammonia based refrigeration systems from a safety perspective (emergency procedures/evacuations).
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Great oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent training and developing skills level.
- Postsecondary degree in Health and Safety or equivalent strongly preferred.
- 45 years of similar industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of organization's and industry's manufacturing technologies, processes, innovations, issues and initiatives.
- Knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial regulations affecting manufacturing practices and activities.
- Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
- Primarily works in a production and/or warehouse setting with time also spent in an office setting
- Frequent walking and standing required
- Occasional travel required
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
Pay:
From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
