Job Description - Marketing Manager - Retirement Residence

Qualifications:_
- Graduate of a post-secondary sales and marketing program or related programs.
Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
- Experience in developing and implementing sales and/or marketing plans, public and community relations campaigns and special events.
- Experience in developing and managing budgets.
- Knowledge of and experience in the seniors' market, public health sector and private health sector.
- Experience in event planning.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems.

Physical Demands:_
- Sitting for extended periods at a desk for computer/typing work.
- Standing for extended periods of time as required.
- Walking short distances and up/down staircases.
- Typing and/or use of a computer keyboard proficiently.
- Pulling/pushing/lifting to open and/or relocate binders, carts, etc. up to 10lbs.
- Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency response purposes.
- Speaking/communicating in front of audiences and with individuals.
Responsibilities:_

Planning_
Develop and implement annual and quarterly sales and marketing plans that will introduce and bring the following groups on-site or initiate contact with the residence:
- Community influencers
- public health care providers such as case managers, discharge planners, social workers, therapists, doctors, community associations, senior centre, etc. directors
- Private health care providers
- Family influencers
- Eligible seniors
- Referral sources existing prospects in the database, trust companies, financial planners, bankers, lawyers, real estate agents, politicians, clergy, etc.
Prospect Management_
- Work closely with the General Manager and Management staff to maximize the number of prospects that become residents.
- Keep updated and supervise the maintenance of a completed and current lead management and prospect database that includes: prospects, community influencers, family influencers, etc.
- Closely monitor the residence's wait list to ensure vacancies to needs are promptly addressed and prospects on the wait list are regularly communicated with.
- With the General Manager, review the status of the resident population on a regular basis in order to proactively work on potential vacancies.
- Ensure that regular communication regarding upcoming potential move-outs and move-ins is shared with the Management team.
Marketing_
- Create a marketing plan for the year and manage the marketing budget.
- Research, plan, budget and coordinate the execution of on-site and off-site marketing events that attract prospects and referral sources.
- Plan, budget and coordinate regular "one-on-one" meetings with community influencers and seniors' groups that will educate and keep them current on the residence's offerings and services. Seek out and negotiate sponsorships if possible.
- Research local community publications and newspapers for advertising appropriateness and editorial opportunities.
- Review competition availability, status and offerings on a regular basis.
Tour and Sales Management_
- Train designated staff to conduct tours.
- Develop a 7-day rotating schedule for on_
-_site staff, including self, to receive prospects and conduct tours. - Book and conduct tours of the residence with prospects, family and community influencers.
- Conduct prompt and appropriate follow-up on all visits and inquiries.
- Call-out to all leads in the existing database to maximize all opportunities available to have potential clients become a resident.
- Manage the overall leasing process from start to finish - prospect to resident.
- Complete paperwork for all new rentals, and maintain current and in-depth content knowledge of the residence's Residency Agreement, Information Package and Resident Handbook.
- Ensure model suites and/or show rooms are in proper order and always ready for tours.
Administration and Reporting_
- Assume responsibility for all administrative duties related to managing the database and prompt communication with prospects.
- Complete all marketing reports promptly and correctly.
- Attend and present community activities at marketing meetings, and conferences if applicable.
- Keep the General Manager apprised on community issues or concerns before they negatively impact residents, staff or prospect.
