    Duties

    The Intelligence Analyst – Intermediate Level, under the guidance of an Intelligence Analyst/Coach, researches, collates, reviews, evaluates and analyzes information from a variety of sources and develops data collection strategies to assist with the development and production of intelligence products; identifies criminal trends to assist investigators/management in operational decision-making. In consultation with the Intelligence Analyst/Coach, applies analytical methodologies to assess the nature and extent of criminal networks, activities, trends and threats which contributes to the development of intelligence on various organized crime and terrorist organizations.

    Intent of the process

    The immediate need is to staff one position in Moncton and one position in Fredericton on an indeterminate basis.

    A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar temporary, and/or permanent positions.

    Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

    • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization* in economics, sociology or statistics.

    * Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.


    • Significant* experience conducting research, analyzing, and writing reports to provide guidance or recommendations to decision makers.

    • Experience in developing or applying analytical techniques or qualitative/quantitative methodology to advance a project.

    • Significant* experience in producing and presenting material (in at least two of the following: reports, presentations, project findings, and briefings) to decision-makers.

    • Significant* experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal or external partners/stakeholders.
    * "Significant" is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of two (2) years.

    Asset Qualifications

    • Experience with analytical tools, databases and/or mapping software (e.g. i2, iBase, Access, ArcGIS)

    Conditions of employment

    Top Secret security clearance - of the RCMP.

    All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

    • Be in possession of a valid driver's licence (some positions).

    • Willingness and ability to work overtime as and when required and on short notice.

    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically/internationally to attend training/work away from home, as necessary.

    • Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
