The Opportunity:

WSP E&I is seeking an Integrated Work Control (IWC) Planner to support a growing program in Port Hope, ON.

The Integrated Work Control (IWC) Planner is considered a key position within the IWC Program.

The planner is responsible for the coordination of work activities as well as the development of Work Control Packages (WCP) used to perform Contractor work activities.

The IWC Planner typically reports to the Contractors R/M or an operations line manager.

A day in the life:


  • Assist in the development/refinement of a scope of work for each discrete WCP.
  • Assist the Responsible Manager (R/M) in determining the WCP planning level based on activity complexity and/or hazards associated with the scope of work.
  • Assist the R/M in the selection of the planning team members which includes worker representatives and Subject Matter Experts (SME);
  • Lead the planning process in development of a Job Hazard Analysis by performing walkdowns/roundtables to identify hazard and assist in the hazard control selection.
  • Engaging Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assemble all governing documents applicable to the work (i.e., permits, regulatory documents and requirements, design drawings and specifications ) for inclusion in the WCP;
  • Author and assemble the WCP consisting of the JHA, pertinent work instructions, reference material and forms to be used by the work team.
  • Obtaining WCP concurrence from the planning team and approval from the R/M.
  • Support the work team with WCP changes/revisions as needed.
  • Coordinate and publish Plan of the Day (POD) or Plan of the Week (POW) used to authorize the work activities.
  • Support the Job Supervisor in coordinating Post Job Reviews to collect feedback and lessons learned in a timely manner to capture information in support of process
