The role in a nutshell


Ready for your next step? In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as an integral member of the Procurement team with our Nickel Division.

You will develop sourcing strategies, lead contract negotiations, and finalize agreements for Glencore's Technology requirements across the Canadian operations.

You will lead strategic initiatives that will deliver cost efficiency while effectively executing procurement contracts for technology related investments for software, hardware, on premise, off premise and cloud-based services and solutions.


You will make a significant contribution in managing the Glencore's cost for the products and services by delivering total cost of ownership savings and process improvements, all of which will be compliant to Glencore policies.

This will be achieved by utilizing best practice approaches in procurement and working closely with business stakeholders, manufacturers, distributors, and service providers in establishing and maintaining strategic relationships where required.

This role reports directly to the Manager of Sourcing - Glencore Canada Procurement.


More specifically, you will:


  • Identifies "hotspots" or key areas of legal concerns in technology agreements that will require the Incumbent to interface directly with Glencore legal to come up with a workable solution
  • Tracks, monitors, and manages sourcing and contracting agenda across the category including progress, risk identification, and benefits that will be realized from your work
  • Leads multifunctional strategic sourcing teams for the technology portfolio
  • Defines and scopes the spend portfolio on an annual basis
  • Develops strategies and approaches to best manage the portfolio aligned with market trends and dynamics
  • Is the company expert in Technology contracts and related services within the portfolio
  • Shares and communicates contract information, market reports and identify opportunities to key stakeholders when appropriate
  • When possible and practical, employ a leveraged approach, utilizing crosscompany teaming
  • Participates in the development of global sourcing opportunities with Glencore's Global Sourcing Team by supporting the development of valueadded strategies and approaches.
  • Periodically works on site specific procurement and sourcing activities
  • Develops and perfect agreement templates for IT contracts, in collaboration with Glencore legal, aligned with Glencore's suite of contract templates, contractual standards and compliance requirements
  • Establishes and manages contracts utilizing such suite of contract templates
  • Establishes Supplier Relationship Management programs for key suppliers within your portfolio in conjunction with site procurement and operations teams
  • Coordinates activities such as workshops and technology forums across the organization

Do you have what it takes?

  • 5 or more years' experience in managing technology related sourcing activity leading to the development of valueadded agreements
  • Bachelor's or college degree in business, supply chain management or related field
  • Related industry experience
  • Experience utilizing a strategic sourcing process and electronic tendering tools such as Coupa and/or Ariba
  • Ability to lead, manage, and influence significant change as a result of implementing new solutions
  • A pronounced understanding of the technology marketplace for the products and services that make up your portfolio
  • Ability to utilize various technology tools to complete the sourcing process, analysis, and presentation of your work
  • A person of the highest professional ethics and integrity
  • Ability to multitask and manage time with limited supervision
  • Ability to lead and work within multifunctional teams
  • Capable of delivering challenging and constructive feedback to suppliers and maintaining steady direction yielding efficient, effective results
  • Able to adapt to rapidly changing situations and priorities. Comfortable adjusting concepts to fit new situations
  • Hands on, "rollupyour sleeves" individual who is open to the aggressive sharing of, and reaction to, ideas in an open forum.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • A working knowledge of French and English
