About you_


Your priorities as a Lab technician will be to support in the development and certification of various consumer Hearth Products from wood stoves to high end gas fireplaces'.

You will be involved in constructing test booths, building, and modifying prototypes, and performing tests to ensure our products meet relevant industry standards.

Gathering data, recording observations, assisting with data analysis and technical report writing provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative, industry leading products and provides hands-on experience of the full product development cycle.

About the job_


Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will use their lean manufacturing experience to enhance the efficient operation of the company's manufacturing processes, equipment, and infrastructure.

An expert in change management, the Manufacturing Engineer will assist in the company wide adoption of Lean principles and culture.

You will collect and analyze productivity metrics, as well as plan and implement continuous improvement projects, kaizen events, etc. in order to assist the production staff to achieve cost and productivity targets. This is a quick paced environment focused on providing a safe, efficient, and reliable product to our customers.

Your responsibilities as a Lab Technician_

  • Follow standardized testing and set up procedures
  • Build test structures to create controlled testing environments
  • Assist in the Assembly/fabrication of prototypes
  • Collect data and record observations through the testing period
  • Maintain service records on various test equipment
  • Participate in results analysis; recommend changes to improve results
  • Provide written technical reports to document results including certification testing
  • Assist with field return analyses & root cause investigations
  • Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with PE principles.
  • Follow all Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure workplace is organized and tidy
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications_

  • Engineering Technologist Diploma (or higher)
  • Organized
  • Ability to research information
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles
  • Understanding of basic standards for testing environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Handson approach, with a mechanical aptitude
  • Interest in product testing, research and development and problem solving
  • Strong communications skills (written/verbal) in English
