    Hybrid Role:
    This is a hybrid position; on occasion, you will be required to work at the WestJet Campus in Calgary approximately 2 days / week. Calgary based candidates required.

    Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis ("FP&A"), WestJet is seeking a Flight Profitability Systems Analyst to support the WestJet Group with managing the critical Flight Profitability System ("FPS") supporting Network Planning with strategic and tactical network decisions.

    To be successful in this role, the candidate will have to work closely alongside key stakeholders across the Group including Finance, Network Planning, Revenue Management, and Fleet Planning; as well as external system support vendors, and 3rd party consultants for complex issue resolutions.

    Key deliverables and accountabilities include:

    • Liaise with IT on all matters related to FPS ensuring data availability and capture;
    • Obtain and process raw source data to ensure efficient running of FPS program;
    • Maintain and update flight profitability logic and allocation methodologies, as required;
    • FPS maintenance, continuous development, and enhancement of the system;
    • Conduct thorough analysis of existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement;
    • Perform data analysis and identify abnormalities that exceed defined thresholds;
    • Perform thorough quality assurance to ensure continued accuracy of data and information used for FPS
    • Provide analytical support, conduct research, and review data input validity to ensure use of most appropriate data sources
    • Design, test, and implement changes to account structure and hierarchy for financial data and allocations in Flight Profitability;
    • Design and propose innovative and effective system solutions that align with business needs;
    • Work closely with development teams to implement and deploy new systems or enhance existing ones;
    • Create detailed documentation including system specifications, user manuals, and workflow diagrams and ensure such documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders;
    • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the reliability and performance of systems and address any issues or bugs during the testing phase;
    • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for existing systems, addressing issues promptly;
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend enhancements and upgrades;
    • Evaluate and recommend third-party solutions that align with organizational goals; and
    • Be an active member of the Finance team; willing to mentor and coach peers, brainstorm issues, and be flexible in completing any task

    Experience and qualifications:

    • Completion of a postsecondary degree in Commerce or Business Administration. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field would be considered an asset
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in progressively complex financial analysis roles
    • Experience with and ability to distill large data sets down to relevant information
    • Strong communicator who demonstrates ability to focus communication to the needs of the audience, and translate financial information to operational information
    • Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as SQL, Alteryx, Snowflake, Wherescape, Tableau, and Power BI
    • Ability to read and write complex SQL queries to support dashboard visualizations and the FPS pipeline
    • Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement
    • Ability to analyze business results, identify and clearly summarize key issues
    • Excel proficiency (ability to prepare pivot tables, XLOOKUP formulas, etc.)
    • Experience using Access databases, Oracle EPM (Hyperion), or equivalent systems
    • Experience identifying requirements and testing finance modules for new software system implementation would be considered an asset
    • Experience in implementing new systems, processes, and policies
    • Works independently, displaying an intellectual curiosity that can create process efficiencies and drive improvements for the team
    • Able to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in an environment with a high volume of activity
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
