Course description:
This seminar course offers a critical examination of different literary genres and writers from modern Chinese literature. The focus will be on poetry, prose, drama, and fiction of the modern era. Discussions will emphasize historical, cultural, and social-political contexts. Key techniques of literary criticism, analysis of literary devices and themes.

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I - $9,182.42 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,641.55 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $9,826.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,025.84 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,060.93 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,262.15 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Minimum qualifications:

Applicants must have completed a Ph.
D. in Chinese literature or a related field.

Extensive knowledge of Chinese literature is required.

(Near-)native fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese is required.


Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.


Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
