Role:
Canoe Financial is seeking a
Compliance/Finance Coordinator to join the firm's Calgary-based head office team to assist in executing Canoe's business strategy.
This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the investment industry, has an entrepreneurial mindset, and good business judgement.
This role will require someone who can work in a fast-paced environment, is very organized, can multi-task, be proactive, can make decisions independently, and is willing to take on new tasks as the role develops overtime.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ongoing auditing and reporting on organizational compliance, including personal trading, sales practices, social media and marketing
- Complete securities regulator filings, including on SEDAR, MFDA, EDGAR, NRD, TMX Linx, SEDI, and various provincial securities commissions
- Assisting Canoe's Mutual Fund Dealer business including compliance monitoring and client support.
- Implement and document policies and procedures
- Prepare continuous disclosure and other prescribed securitiesrelated documents
- Proactively researching to stay up to date with regulations and rules
- Assisting in communicating regulations to internal and external parties
- Assisting in the development of procedures and workflows to meet compliance requirements
- Accounts payable including filing invoices and scanning and filing documents
- Performance of bank reconciliations
- Assisting with managing accounts payable processes
- Assisting the Legal & Compliance/Finance teams with various daytoday deliverables
SKILLS
- Desire to have a meaningful impact on a fast growing entrepreneurial company
- High degree of personal initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal business communication skills
- Graduate of a legal assistant, business or securities compliance program would be an asset
- Experience in the investment fund industry, securities law or securities compliance from a law firm, major financial institution and/or securities regulatory body would be an asset
- Enrolment or completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Word and Excel
