Position


Reporting to the Corporate Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the overall safety practices, training, and safety management plan for projects.

Through safe and timely execution, you will play a leadership role with respect to safety on the job.


Job Duties

  • Provide leadership to onsite project managers and all site employees.
  • Review project learning's and best practices and incorporate into the project specific Safety Management Plan
  • Analyze hazard identification (JHA's) and risk assessments/matrix and ensure implementation of identified controls are effective and improving.
  • Audit safety systems that are implemented on site.
  • Act as Lead for incident investigations and reports.
  • Analyze statistics and injury/damage trend reviews and communicate findings to site.
  • Provide high level support for workplace inspections, focus audits and competency checks where authorized and certified.
  • Oversee SEC's training matrix.
  • Ensure the site hazardous and controlled product registry (WHMIS) is current and uptodate.
  • Participate in plan task observation and behaviorbased activities.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in responding to workplace incidents or emergencies.
  • Oversee all circulation of relevant Safety information such as lessons learned and review all weekly safety activity reports for project to Client.
  • Attend as required, weekly Client Progress meetings, speak on all safety related stats.
  • Administer site specific training for workers which would include all safe work procedures and practices, Fire Extinguisher, Hazard Analysis, Spotter, Safe Work Observation cards, SCOT, TDG, Ground Disturbance etc.
  • Analyze corrective actions from incident investigations as well maintain an up to date site corrective action log, ensure execution and effectiveness.
  • Attend and facilitate weekly site safety meeting as required for site team.
  • Support the site Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Manage all incident investigations along with corrective and preventative actions to client safety within expected time frame, depending on client requirements.
  • Lead site injury case management.
  • Order off any sitespecific safety gear and PPE.
  • Oversee site compliance and regulations for safety equipment (i.e. Fire Extinguishers, Alarm Systems etc.).
  • Responsible and accountable for safety deliverables for overall project.
  • Conduct critical audits as per the site standard.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant Safety laws, codes of practice and standards applicable to the project and province
  • CSO / NCSO designation required
  • Minimum 3 years' in a Safety Supervisor or Operations role
  • Effective selfmanaging, good problemsolving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and be a team player
  • Computer knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint)
  • Preemployment medical exam and drug test will be required.

Total Compensation
