    Unit Summary

    In accordance with our organizational commitment to provide the Best Care for All, the Quality & Value Improvement Program provides infrastructure and leadership essential to achieving HHS' strategic and operational objectives. The Program is responsible for identifying, designing, planning, supporting, executing and evaluating improvement initiatives throughout the organization that deliver results and increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of HHS activities.

    Supported by evidenced based tools and methodologies the program supports decision-making, planning, project execution and performance monitoring; provides proactive identification and prioritization of improvement and efficiency opportunities; and, develops organizational infrastructure and supports required to progress annual and long-term operational planning. The Quality & Value Improvement Program also provides corporate and local education, training and support to staff and physicians to ensure quality and project management knowledge and skill is developed, advanced and spread throughout Hamilton Health Sciences.

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Director, Quality & Value Improvement, the Project Manager (PM) leads and/or supports strategic and corporate-wide project initiatives across HHS. Specifically, in this role the PM will:

    • Be responsible for preliminary planning, scope definition and initiation of a Project Charter with key stakeholders and support groups, encompassing the creation of actual scope of work.

    • Follow PM standards to manage projects through the project life cycles of initiation, planning, execution and closure.

    • Ensure all relevant project documents for initiatives are in place. Assist in bridging the gaps if identified.

    • Support other PM and non-PM functions within HHS organization by providing training and education on tools, templates and processes.

    • Prepare briefing notes, progress reports and stakeholder communications.

    • Provide continual leadership throughout the project life cycle, support of the project vision and direction setting for project team, and stakeholders.

    • Create strategies for timely risk mitigation and contingency planning, proactively identify issues, in compliance with HHS policies and guidelines, and escalate project issues in accordance with the HHS governance structure, as appropriate.

    • Identify and use appropriate project, process improvement, change management tools and evaluation frameworks to support team projects.

    • Be responsible for the post-implementation monitoring of projects to ensure delivery as planned.

    • Conduct project postmortems and create recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and provide innovative and creative solutions that will achieve quality and work process improvements going forward.

    • Work with clinical leaders/managers and clinicians to build commitment to changes and identify barriers and opportunities for successful implementation.

    Schedule Work Hours

    Monday-Friday; 8:00-4:00pm

    This position is temporary until April 2025.

    Qualifications
  • A university degree in a related field.
    2. A minimum of five years of experience in managing progressively larger and more complex projects and team size, preferably in a healthcare setting.
    3. PMP Certification or demonstrated plan to accomplish.
    4. Must have knowledge and experience of project management methodologies and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
    5. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, is complex or ambiguous.
    6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
    7. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in nature.
    8. Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
    9. Good computer skills, and proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project).
    10. The ability to manage and lead working group meetings to establish project requirements and achieve end results/deliverables.
    11. Ability to work independently, organize workload, manage time and prioritize tasks.
    12. Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development and education.
