JOIN OUR TEAM:The Manager of YWCA Arise and December 6th Fund is responsible for the overall operation of YWCA Arise, a 27-bed emergency and crisis shelter for assaulted women and their children and YWCA December 6th Fund, a program that provides interest-free loans to women leaving violent homes. This includes the development, planning, marketing, and implementation of the programs in accordance with the Mission of YWCA Toronto and the needs of the participants. This middle management position is responsible for contributing to the overall management of the Association.


ABOUT YWCA TORONTO- YWCA ARISE & December 6th Fund:

YWCA Arise provides safe and secure emergency shelter for women, gender diverse people and their children who are fleeing violence.

The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day and supports 8 families and one single woman.

In addition to shelter, families are offered case management support and enriching group and community activities to help them deal with the trauma they have experienced and begin to establish lives that are free of violence.

The YWCA December 6th Fund provides interest free loans to women and gender diverse people leaving violent homes.

The fund supports women and gender diverse people in the Greater Toronto Area and the Region of Peel and strives to remove some of the financial barriers that prevents women and gender diverse people from leaving their abusers.

Women, Trans, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people use the loans to establish themselves and their children in greater safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and monitors budgets for YWCA Arise Shelter in consultation with the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services;
  • Ensures that fiscal goals are met and prepares contingency plans, when required;
  • Directs and actively negotiates all new government purchase of service agreements and community partnerships;
  • Participates with the Director to develop long and shortterm plans for the program to meet the identified needs of the participants and the overall organizational objectives;
  • Initiates and implements, in collaboration with the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services and the Director of Philanthropy, annual fundraising and marketing plans;
  • Develops and implements annual promotions and publicity campaigns in consultation with the Director of Advocacy and Communications;
  • Ensures that statistical records are maintained and submits a comprehensive annual report on the program and an analysis of services and trends to identify risks and opportunities;
  • Ensures the hiring of all staff and implementation of the Collective Agreement in consultation with the Director of Human Resources and Administration and the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services;
  • Ensures the promotion of Access and Equity policies and procedures with staff and program participants;
  • Works collaboratively with the Manager of Property Services to ensure the overall maintenance of the facility.;
  • Participates with the Director of Advocacy and Communications in advocacy initiatives to improve services for women and children and gender diverse people.
  • Participates in coalitions and partnerships relating to housing, violence against women and programs related women's & gender diverse people's issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Advanced knowledge of concepts and theories of social work, adult education and group work normally acquired through the completion of a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Adult Education or other relevant field;
    (Case for Equivalency will be considered):
  • Three to five
    years of directly related experience;
  • Ability to understand and interpret legislation that includes the Ontario Human Rights Code, as well as government policies related to shelter management
  • Knowledge of financial and human resources management required as well as previous work in a multicultural, unionized environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential including conflict resolution, crisis intervention/prevention, counselling, and coaching;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including problem solving, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of women's services, group work theory and practice and Access and Equity issues is required.
