Distribution Supervisor - Flat Department

Position Summary


The Distribution Supervisor will assist management in overseeing all day-to-day operational tasks in the Flat department at our Cambridge DC.

This position will work closely with management and several production departments to ensure that departmental key metrics and goals are met, supporting company policies, procedures and safety while creating an inclusive high-performance culture.


Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Distribution Supervisor will consist of but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage retail fulfilment and our RSU (Reliable Sorting Unit) and provide hands-on leadership while performing day-to-day activities on the warehouse floor to ensure daily workload is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist management with loading/unloading trailers, receipt of new merchandise, put away and picking of back stock merchandise, Garment on Hanger Processing, sorting to ship by specific load times (including staging merchandise for sorter), and scanning stations to prepare for sorting.
  • Work closely with management and team members to ensure merchandise and products are delivered in compliance with business requirements, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Identify, plan, and coordinate daily activities of team members and determine staffing/manpower needs to schedule and assign work to direct reports.
  • Follow all MOS procedures including daily huddle, DOR, employee tours, tracking lost time, keeping the communication boards up to date and completing action plans.
  • Practice Continuous Improvement Methodology Skills
  • Motivate and oversee the work of hourly warehouse team members to achieve desired results in productivity, teamwork, safety, quality, and job knowledge.
  • Hourly communication with team members regarding production goals and expectations
  • Plan and manage supplies consumption.
  • Ensure accurate and rapid movement and processing of merchandise as well as accurate count of every product through the sorter before shipping.
  • Attend daily department meetings and communicate vital information to production areas.
  • Assist with overseeing and ensuring performance planning, coaching, and evaluations of direct reports.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with team members, customers, and vendors while ensuring prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Assist management in training employees thoroughly in all procedures and processes related to their jobs while providing proper follow through and maintain a good flow of communication with management and all personnel.
  • Provide regular coaching, communication, and feedback to employees.
  • Document, track, and maintain performance metrics of direct reports in EMOS.
  • Interact with and maintain a positive relationship with management and department staff.
  • Participate in the recruitment process of hiring new employees.
  • Help maintain and promote positive employee relations and morale whenever possible by practicing good servant leadership principles in a contextual environment to always promote teamwork.
  • Ensure warehouse/material handling equipment and tools are operating properly and safely so that employees can perform their job functions without interruption.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and in compliance with OSHA regulations by ensuring departmental employees attend monthly safety meetings and report Worker's Compensation injuries to management.
  • Special projects as needed, and any additional duties assigned by the management team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, additional education is a plus.
  • Two years of experience in a handson supervisory role preferably in a fastpaced, highvolume distribution center environment with a high degree of responsibility
  • Prior supervisory experience in a production, distribution, warehouse environment
  • Must be handson with strong leadership skills and the demonstrated ability to motivate, encourage, and lead team members.
  • Knowledge of a Management Operating System
  • Proficient working knowledge in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn proprietary programs (Proficiency testing may be administered by HR)
  • Must have working knowledge of reporting software, TMS, Flat/GOH Sorters, Putty, and WMOS 1
  • Working knowledge in the use of warehouse technology including radio frequency scanners, material handling equipment and machinery, sorter systems, conveyors, metal hooks, plastic bags and packaging, cardboard boxes, tape dispensers, and other materials necessary to the production and packaging of our merchandise
