Job Description:

The Payroll Technician works with colleagues to code and prepare payroll for unionized employees under federal jurisdiction. In support of managers, employees and the human resources team, he/she will ensure proper payroll management.

Responsibilities:

Ensure payroll processing in compliance with applicable laws, labour standards and collective agreements
Codify data entries
Produce the payroll validation file
Produce and verify Records of Employment and respond to requests from the Employment Insurance office
Produce government remittances
Produce various reports for managers and operations
Brief employees and managers on payroll issues
Assist in the preparation of T4s and Relevé 1s
Support Area Manager with various requests
Perform all other related tasks

Qualifications:

DEC in accounting, administration or other related discipline;
Two to five years of relevant experience;
Bilingualism essential, French and English, both spoken and written;
Excellent knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software;
Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
Knowledge of SAP (an asset);
Rigorous, efficient and highly organized;
Ability to perform well on different files simultaneously in a highvolume environment;
Customer focus, autonomy and excellent team spirit;
