    Job Summary

    The Health Protection Branch (HPB) provides leadership and expertise to develop programs and policies that promote community environmental health, to prevent disease and protect people from harm from environmental stressors. The Health Protection Branch safeguards the population by developing legislative and regulatory requirements for the prevention and reduction of risk of harms including emerging pathogens, food safety, air and water quality, and environmental contamination. HPB administers several pieces of legislation including the Drinking Water Protection Act and Drinking Water Protection Regulation, the Food Safety Act and the Public Health Act and Recreational Pools and Sewerage System Regulations.

    You will lead the development (or amendments) of legislation, regulations, policy, guidelines, and standards related to drinking water protection, watershed protection, water- and vector-borne diseases, swimming pools and recreational water. Provide advice, guidance and recommendations to Ministry of Health Executive, other Ministries, Health Authorities and agencies on all aspects (prevention and harm reduction) related to drinking water protection, watershed protection, waterborne and vector-borne diseases, swimming pools and recreational water quality. Supervise technical staff, manages projects with respect drinking water, watershed protection, and swimming pools, and manages the development technical policy guidelines.

    Job Requirements:
    • Master's degree in a related field and 1 year of *relevant experience or bachelor's degree along with 3 years of *relevant experience in drinking water systems or water resource disciplines.
    *Relevant Experience includes:
    • Experience in compiling technical information and preparing technical reports and presentations related to drinking water and Wastwaterissues.
    • Experience working with professional groups, other government agencies in development, analysis implementationof public policy and programs.
    • Experience in program evaluation and project management.
    Preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate:
    • Experience in administration and enforcement of Acts and Regulation.
    • Candidates with more than 5 years of *relevant experience in Drinking Water or Wastewater.
