    We are currently seeking a Pricing Specialist to join our Finance team based in the Firm's Halifax, NS office.

    Type of Position: Full-Time, Permanent

    The Opportunity:

    An integral member of Stewart McKelvey's Finance department, the Pricing Specialist will directly support the Firm's pricing initiative, including gathering and analyzing historical pricing data, billing rates, timekeeper rates, and budgeting, monitoring & reporting.

    In particular, the successful candidate will support the development of financial models and reporting capabilities in the Firm's legal software and integrated applications by using metrics such as profitability, realization, leverage, write-offs, revenue & costs. These models will be used to report on Firm, client, matter, matter type, industry and office specific metrics to inform strategic planning and decision making.

    Through detailed research, the Pricing Specialist will identify existing / historical Firm matters that may provide a baseline in developing budgets for new matters & assess the current financial state and profitability of different practice areas and clients in an effort to identify opportunities for improvement. These results will be used to produce compelling charts, dashboards or infographics that clearly illustrate various analyses.

    The Pricing Specialist will be tasked with developing pricing strategies and Alternate Fee Arrangements to maximize the profitability of legal project management initiatives (and conduct subsequent analysis and reporting), create and track budgets & fee estimates, as well as collect and collate pricing & profitability data.

    The successful candidate will also support the Firm's Business Development team with pricing arrangement advice for RFP responses and client proposals, participate in annual timekeeper rate reviews, and various other pricing-related tasks & projects as assigned.

    If you are a client service-focused finance professional, with experience completing financial analyses (ideally within a professional services environment), and have an interest in pricing & profitability trends and strategies, we want to hear from you The ideal candidate will also have post-secondary education in finance or accounting (or a related field), advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., experience with the preparation of visualizations, pivot tables, and data analysis), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and enjoys working as part of a cross-functional team.
