The position
As an integral part of the management team, the Arena Manager ensures the best and most equitable use of the facilities in the delivery of registrations, special events, bookings and concessions.
With an innovative approach, the Arena Manager supports the planning and delivery of marketing initiatives and oversees in-house marketing productions, website, social media and signage.
This position seeks opportunities to attract events to the facilities and positively impact the community.Specifically, this position:
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with tenants and community user groups;
- Registers events, manages bookings, coordinates resources and supports the execution of events in alignment with policies and Salmon Arm Recreation's commitment to high quality service delivery;
- Schedules ice, floor time, meeting rooms and other facility space;
- Coordinates insurance, risk management and special requirements as needed;
- Manages major events and inhouse productions;
- Actively seeks partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to assist in the operation of facilities and the generation of additional revenue;
- Promotes and contributes to a healthy workplace culture, modelling Society values, integrity, and respect;
- Trains, develops, manages and evaluates Food and Beverage Manager;
- Oversees the effective operation of concessions including staffing, inventory, pricing and service delivery;
- Supports the development of marketing plans, and coordinates marketing for inhouse events;
- Manages social media, website, signage and other marketing initiatives to support the facilities and their programs.
Requirements:
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in facilities or program management;
- Diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Recreation Facility or Event Management is preferred;
- Demonstrated experience managing and planning events, with a strong understanding of logistics;
- Experience with concession management and general event operations;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
- A solid understanding of, and experience working with social media platforms;
- Superior verbal and written communication skills;
- Well developed presentation skills and comfort speaking in front of groups;
- Above average relationship building skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, general public and the Board of Directors;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team;
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, and work under pressure with mínimal supervision;
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with the requirement to support events on occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.
