    Academic Anatomical Pathologist

    Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program and McMaster University

    The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP)and the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University, Hamilton invite applications for faculty positions in Anatomical Pathology, within the subspecialties of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology, breast pathology, and skin pathology.

    The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated clinician educator, with a strong sense of professionalism and excellent communication skills. Candidates must hold certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), in Anatomical or General Pathology and must hold (or be eligible for) medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. Additionally, qualified candidates will have subspecialty expertise through a recognized fellowship (or at least five years practice experience), in one or more of the following specialties: Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathology, Breast Pathology, and Skin Pathology, including related molecular/biomarker testing and reporting. Strong surgical pathology and frozen section skills are required.

    About this role

    The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, at a rank appropriate to their experience, and will join HRLMP's Discipline of Anatomical Pathology, which includes 33 anatomical pathologists across all subspecialties.

    The HRLMP and the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine value scholarly interests in the areas of education, quality improvement, knowledge translation, innovation, and/or clinical and translational research. The successful candidate will collaborate in the implementation of the HRLMP's strategic plan, contribute to local and regional education events, and actively engage in their own continuing medical education. They will be committed to academic scholarship and will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. They, along with other HRLMP professional and technical staff, will engage with McMaster's MD Program and with McMaster's Royal College accredited programs in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology, Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology, Adult Hematology, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

    Specifically, alongside other HRLMP professional and technical staff, they will be expected to engage with McMaster's MD Program and with McMaster's Royal College Accredited Programs in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology, Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology, Adult Hematology, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. A commitment to academic scholarship is required. The HRLMP and the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine value scholarly interests in the areas of education, quality improvement, knowledge translation, innovation, and/or clinical and translational research.

    Compensation for this role will align with the Province of Ontario's Laboratory Medicine Funding Framework Agreement (LMFFA). The intent is for the successful candidate to hold a 1.0 FTE appointment in the HRLMP.

It is an exciting and eventful period in medical research and education, and many in the Department are contributing to significant breakthroughs in their specific areas. Many of our Faculty are educators in the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Undergraduate Medicine program and our Postgraduate Training Programs in Laboratory Medicine, considered among the best in Canada. The successful applicant will join over 140 full-time/part-time faculty.
