Position Overview

:

The CAD Specialist role reports to the IT Manager. The CAD Specialist is the key supporting function for Aplin Martin's global CAD and Design group. They are responsible to establish, organize, and manage our CAD and related software standards and lead the CAD Committee.


Duties and Responsibilities

:


  • Serve as a technical resource to staff for specific CAD questions (e.g. Civil 3D) and related hardware issues, including troubleshooting individual or interdisciplinary file management and CAD related problems.
  • Assist in the maintenance of CAD standards and procedures for all design disciplines at Aplin Martin.
  • Help Maintain electronic library of Civil Engineering CAD details, project folders, and notes.
  • Help manage the Quality Control process to ensure departments are consistently adhering to the
established standards and procedures.

  • Assist with ongoing employee training on CAD related items as needed.
  • Perform research, analysis and testing compilation of data and other engineering tasks as necessary to
support engineering activities.

  • Enhancing the productivity and Quality of Work produced by the CAD and Design team through.
  • Assisting in the establishment or revision of guidelines and new standards.
  • Ensuring the implementation of Quality Procedures.
  • Conducting monthly Quality Assurance reviews.
  • Provide leadership in project set up and configuration to support efficient workflows.
  • Test, refine, and create documentation of CADbased workflows using the latest software and
hardware technology.

  • Support and communicate established workflows to internal staff through 1on1 training to teamwide.

  • Maintaining the latest drafting standards and providing necessary training to CAD personnel.
  • Onboarding and Training of new CAD and Design employees.
  • Chairing bimonthly CAD Committee meetings.
  • Collaborating with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to enforce Quality Assurance.
  • Provide leadership to the team as it relates to innovation, training, quality assurance.
  • Work across different regions, teams, and geographic regions with consistency
  • Streamline/leanout all processes to provide best in class CAD services.
  • Monitor emerging trends and technological capabilities in our industry and develop strategies to
incorporate these capabilities where appropriate.

  • Review potential program enhancement plugins and extensions.

Skills and Qualifications

:


  • Minimum of 5 plus years of drafting experience in a consulting environment.
  • Indepth working knowledge of current Autodesk products
  • Demonstrated technical background with a broad base of experience extending across multiple design disciplines.
  • Advanced PCbased computing skills and experience
  • Previous experience with IT is a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate software and hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational aptitude.
  • Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines and to work in a highly collaborative, team environment.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to maintain technical accuracy in an environment when team members are required to multitask efficiently.
  • Must be able to interact in a positive and meaningful way with all levels of staff in a highly visible appointment.
