Responsibilities:


  • Reviewing civil construction tenders and providing a bid summary to the General Manager for go/no go analysis
  • Leading the preconstruction process including bid documents, bonding and insurance, cost estimates, and prequalification proposals
  • Reviewing project specifics with Superintendent and determining production rates
  • Locating/Determining opportunities to set us apart from the competition
  • Attending pretender meetings and liaising with owners, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Obtaining quotes from subcontractors as well as required subcontractor documentation for analysis of choosing the best contractor
  • Assisting with estimates for ongoing projects including change orders and additional work

Education and Experience:


  • 5+ years of experience in Civil Contracting as an Estimator
  • Must be familiar with industry jargon, specifications, materials, and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Must be familiar with production rates, heavy equipment, and the general work process for civil excavation, earthworks, underground utilities, and roadworks
  • Prior experience with estimating software including BlueBeam and Sharpesoft or similar is required
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Certificate in Engineering Technologies, or equivalent, an asset
  • CCA Gold Seal, an asset

Requirements:


  • Must have a current and valid class 5 driver's license
  • Travel to offsite locations is required
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
