Responsibilities:

Reviewing civil construction tenders and providing a bid summary to the General Manager for go/no go analysis
Leading the preconstruction process including bid documents, bonding and insurance, cost estimates, and prequalification proposals
Reviewing project specifics with Superintendent and determining production rates
Locating/Determining opportunities to set us apart from the competition
Attending pretender meetings and liaising with owners, engineers, and subcontractors
Obtaining quotes from subcontractors as well as required subcontractor documentation for analysis of choosing the best contractor
Assisting with estimates for ongoing projects including change orders and additional work

Education and Experience:

5+ years of experience in Civil Contracting as an Estimator
Must be familiar with industry jargon, specifications, materials, and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Must be familiar with production rates, heavy equipment, and the general work process for civil excavation, earthworks, underground utilities, and roadworks
Prior experience with estimating software including BlueBeam and Sharpesoft or similar is required
Bachelor of Engineering, Certificate in Engineering Technologies, or equivalent, an asset
CCA Gold Seal, an asset

Effective verbal and written communication skills
Good knowledge of MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project

Requirements:

Must have a current and valid class 5 driver's license
Travel to offsite locations is required
Work both indoors and outdoors
Must be eligible to work in Canada
