Job Title:
Community Mental Health Worker


Program:
Peterson Place - Surrey**
Classification: Standard Grid level 1- Adult, Youth & Child Worker

Rate of Pay:
$29.16 per hour; increments as per Collective Agreement


JOB SUMMARY:

To provide support for residents who have mental health concerns by facilitating individualized goal
- oriented treatment/recovery plans which are based on a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model
approach.***
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Diploma in a related human/social service field and one year recent related experience,
or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery
Model

  • Experience working with clients who are struggling with substance use, mental and spiritual
wellness, poverty and homelessness and strong skills in working with a multi-barrier population
while maintaining appropriate boundaries

  • Strong understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically related to people living with
mental health and substance use issues; Sound knowledge of established and emerging practices
for urban populations with complex needs related to mental health, substance use and
homelessness

  • Knowledge of concurrent disorders and community resources an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with family members, support networks, team members,
- the community and other mental health service providers
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, decision making, coaching and human relations such as a genuine
- concern and respect for mental health clients
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
  • Valid First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with an electronic case management system is

  • Successful Criminal Record Check




HOURS OF WORK:
This is a regular Full-time position working 40 hours/week Monday - Friday


(4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.). Start and finish times may vary somewhat and flexibility with hours of work may
be required to meet the program needs as determined by the Program Supervisor.
