Our Career Opportunity and Management Employment Training (COMET) is the exclusive award-winning, fast track training program of Applied Industrial Technologies for May/June 2023 Graduates and Alumni.

COMET is for those who desire a challenging role in the sales and distribution of industrial components.

You will learn about the business from the ground up and be part of an organization with a bright future.


Your training program will include 10 months of personalized training and coaching by managers and peers, many of whom started in the same position.

You will receive products and technical training product training and soft skills training in sales, communications, and customer service through one-on-one, small group, web based methods, and on-the-job training.

We will introduce you to our fabrication shops, field installation teams, engineering and design teams, system automation specialists, sales and operations processes, technology, and strong company culture focused on customer satisfaction, personal mastery, and individual/team contributions.

Applied Industrial Technologies is an extensive network of industrial distribution facilities located throughout Canada.

We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of
COMET ASSOCIATE at our
Quebec, QC, within our
OEM & Technical Services Group for Eastern Canada.


Reporting to the Project Director, the Comet Associate will learn the key functions of the Mechanical / Electrical Engineer Project Manager role at a junior level throughout the duration of the discussed rotation with a focus on Quality.


Career trajectory for this associate could be:

  • Other Technical roles within the OEM&TS Group
  • Specialized technical roles in various product lines (Fluid Power, Power Transmission, Hydraulics, OEM, Integrated Systems, system automation, etc)
  • Application specialist
  • Operations Leaders (Service Centre Manager, General Manager, Regional Manager etc)

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design industrial and mechanical systems that will help customers to perform better at their respective activities.
  • Work directly with Technical Services Group to support customer focused sales inquiries.
  • Evaluate quote requests including BOM's, specifications, drawings, delivery needs, test plans and general requirements.
  • Develop and submit proposals for quotation, test plans and deliveries that may include the full scope of proposal or specialized portions within corporate standards and quality procedures.
  • Continuously improve existing quality program and implement company quality control manual, develop product specific quality plans as well as Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) for shop use.
  • Develop technical documentation that supports the Applied Industrial Technologies project and manufacturing process specific to incoming orders and customer requests.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with manufacturers and customers.
  • Assess product improvement recommendations and initiate required internal change.
  • Develop expertise relevant to the technical services group processes in order to support peers and colleagues.
  • Special projects as required

Preference will be given to individuals with the following qualifications:

  • Bilingual; French & English
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar
  • General understanding of mechanical systems, steel components, properties and related welding and machining procedures.
  • Service orientated
  • Ability to read standards, specifications, and drawings.
  • Strong desire to build a technical/or operations career
  • Mechanical interest and aptitude
  • Results oriented, attention to detail, and good time management skills
  • Potential to fill leadership roles in the future
