JOB SUMMARY
Position Summary:
In keeping with the Mission Statement and utilizing Human Resources in the most effective manner, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Director of Facilities in performing his duties.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & SUCCESS CRITERIA**- Initiative assistance to the Director of Facilities in the proper carrying out of all his duties and responsibilities in:daily operation routine
breakdowns and emergency repairs
preventive maintenance programs
co-operation with contractors
All other duties as assigned
- To perform work related to:
plumbing repairs
electrical repairs
mechanical repairs
welding
carpentry
painting and decoration
grounds maintenance
chemical treatment
other related duties as assigned/required
- Exercise the ability to work alone with minimum supervision.
- Accept delegated responsibility and show leadership related to major installation and repairs.
- Appraise and evaluate situations to make responsible decisions.
- Work rotation weekends and rotation "oncall".
- Cooperate with the Manager, Facilities, and Special Projects on preventive maintenance program development.
- Assist in programs such as Energy Management and Conservation, Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Measures, etc.
Assist with SJLB fire compliance inspections.
- Provide necessary documentation related to the departmental operation.
- Assist with maintenance stock inventory, material/parts specification, and/or delivery.
- Work safely and comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Lifecare and Safety Programs.
- Employees of St.
Joseph's Lifecare Centre Brantford are responsible for:
Ensuring their familiarity with the Health & Safety Program.
Ensuring that they work in a safe and healthy manner using the prescribed measures and procedures, and protective devices.
Actively participating in the identification of workplace hazards with the aim of continuously improving the work environment.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, employees shall be responsible for all the duties outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (R.S.O. 1990 c.0.1).
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Grade 1
- Apprenticeship trade or certificate in at least one of the following:
Electrician
Mechanic
Plumber
Building Maintenance Mechanic Certificate
Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Certificate
Building Environmental Systems Certificate
Facility systems technician certificate
Environmental building maintenance certificate or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in facilities maintenance
- Knowledge of lowpressure hot water boilers
- Plumbing knowledge would be an asset.
