About the Role


With a passion for care towards residents, families, and team members, the Maintenance Worker II is responsible for maintaining the facility in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition, ensuring that all utility, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are fully operational.

The Maintenance Worker II is also responsible for all security related functions for the facility as required in order to foster a safe and secure environment for all residents.

Resident Centered Care:

Promotes service excellence through active participation with the Interdisciplinary Team to achieve and maintain quality resident centered care within the scope of Maintenance.

Documentation:

Accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of resident care assessment, interventions and outcomes in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures.

3.

Safety:

Contributes to a safe environment for residents, the team and self by understanding and adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times.

4.

Pro-active Learner: Demonstrates the vision and values of Bethany and lives out the mission of Creating Caring Communities.

5.

Team Work:
Cares for and works cooperatively with others as an effective team member.


What You Bring:


  • Grade 12 Education or recognized equivalent, as well as
  • 3 years' experience in maintenance role, preferably in a care facility or large facility environment.
  • Prefer 5th Class ABSA Certification or other trade ticket _(not required)_
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a reliable vehicle
  • Knowledge of blue print and specifications reading and implementation
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize various demands
  • Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge or fire codes, building codes, and general safety regulations. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with coworkers, residents, families, and contractors on site.
  • The position requires availability to take part in the oncall rotation, during which afterhours emergency calls are to be responded to.
  • The position requires availability to assist other sites as work levels necessitate.
