The Zoo Crew operates Pawsitively Pets Summer Camps in the Ottawa area.
Our goal is to provide an interactive, hands-on educational experience for children to explore pets and animals, build self-confidence and develop an understanding of the responsibility of taking care of a pet.
Pet ownership comes with responsibility, and we believe by teaching children the skills of owning a pet we are encouraging them to develop a sense of self, and providing them with the tools to provide care and compassion to an animal.
Qualifications:
- Desire and ability to work with children in an educational, interactive manner
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Ability to assist in teaching an activity
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability
- Enthusiasm, sense of humour, patience, and selfcontrol
- Position is open to students 16 years or older, college and university students are encouraged to apply
- Certification in HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development will be provided for camp staff.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the likes/ dislikes of each participant.
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group.
- Follow daytoday activity schedule and engage campers in activities. Assist in teaching or leading an activity, as assigned.
- Guide individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
- Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, and meetings.
- Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean up and chores.
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
- Submit all required reports on time and complete all camper parent calls within the assigned timeline.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

March Break - All applicant must be available for the full week March 13-17, 2023
Summer - All applicants must be available for a minimum of 6 weeks of employment over July/August.
