The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is an advocacy organization, taking direction and fulfilling mandates as directed by First Nations in-Assembly through resolutions.

The Role:


Reporting to the Director, Languages and Learning, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing a wide variety of administrative support including, clerical, data entry, customer service, and other office support functions for the Languages and Learning.


Qualifications:


  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent, certificate in administrative studies or equivalent combination of education and 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level of computer literacy skills particularly in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and research engines & tools
  • Demonstrated effective written communication skills, including creating, composing, formatting, and editing a variety of written materials
  • Intermediate interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a team and with a wide range of individuals in the AFN, First Nations partners and other external stakeholder
  • Demonstrated organizational and coordinating skills
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, tact, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work independently & expeditiously, including working under tight timeframes and competing priorities
  • English is the working language although the ability to communicate effectively in French or an Indigenous language would also be an asset.
