A Network Consultant plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and driving major initiatives for our data center and cloud environments.

The role will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on network architecture, introduce new features, and enhance technologies, with a primary focus on network infrastructure, data centers, and cloud solutions.

Act as a point of contact for Managed Service Providers (MSPs), vendors and CNA internal stakeholders, supporting the defined business goals and measurements with the MSPs.

Builds and maintains strong relationships and monitors MSPs performance to drive continuous improvement.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:_
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to contribute to the architecture, planning, and implementation of network initiatives.
  • Optimize and enhance design standards to ensure efficient and reliable network infrastructure.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices.
  • Serves as a conduit between MSPs and internal stakeholders to ensure business goals and consistent, continuously improved results are delivered.
  • Participates in the measurement and monitoring of MSPs performance, and reviews outcomes to determine how to change them to continuously drive better results at lower costs and to codevelop capabilities with MSPs for the purposes of reducing costs, improving processes, and innovating services in the Infrastructure Network space.
  • Provide expertlevel support in troubleshooting escalated issues related to cloud and local infrastructure.
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness to improve operational efficiency.
  • Mentor team members on technical issues and provide guidance and support.
  • Create, oversee, and test security measures, including access authentication and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to ensure accurate network configuration and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for network performance improvements, capacity planning, and scalability enhancements.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software solutions, and develop plans, layouts, and specifications for data communication networks resulting from meetings.
  • Present findings in report format to appropriate stakeholders, explaining how the proposed communications network will address current issues.
  • Plan and oversee network installation and/or upgrade projects, assigning milestone tasks to support personnel and ensuring compliance with company deadlines.
  • Supervise network support staff in their daily activities and during special projects.
  • Design and implement networking protocols companywide, in alignment with department policies and procedures.
  • Research and analyze emerging network technologies and propose upgrades to enhance the existing communications network.
  • Manage and maintain data center, WAN, and branch office LAN networks.
  • Ensure the production of highlevel design documentation that adheres to recognized Architecture Methodologies and Frameworks.
  • Coordinate activities with other system areas, vendors, and security systems, including planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing.
  • Troubleshoot network hardware and software malfunctions, as well as operational issues with telephones and security systems, to restore services effectively.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned._
Reporting Relationship

Typically reports to Director or above.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proficiency in configuring Cisco routers and data center switches.
  • Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall and experience in managing security policies.
  • Expertise in BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
  • Handson experience with SD-WAN.
  • Excellent documentation skills, both written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes and workflows.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to organize and plan effectively to meet project goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of service level definitions, monitoring, and reporting.
Education & Experience

  • 510 years of experience in Network Engineering and Data Center management.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
