Position Overview:
Disability Management Consultants are part of a professional team that provides quality proactive services to sick or injured employees.
Reporting to the Manager of Ability Management, this role will focus on the management of occupational injury claims (across Canada) and be responsible to monitor financial impacts and trending.
Liaise with employees, HR Business Partners, line management and service providers to facilitate specialized return to work meetings.You will be required to thrive working in a high paced unionized environment and have strong initiative and organizational abilities.
Job Description:
- Proactively manage occupational injuries to ensure that employees return to work in a safe and timely manner.
- Provides overall case management of occupational and nonoccupational disability cases.
- Monitors, analyzes and reports WCB statistics in order to develop strategies to prevent, reduce and minimize the impact of occupational injuries.
- Develop strong working relationships with our Health Safety and Environment and HR peers
- Applies knowledgeable investigation and assessment techniques when establishing return to work opportunities and addressing Duty to Accommodate accountabilities.
- Effectively collaborates with all stakeholders to facilitate the returntowork process by engaging the employees, managers, WCB, healthcare providers, HR Business Partners, and union representatives as required.
- Identifies potential cost relief on claims and represents Finning on WCB claim appeals.
- Maintains accurate, up to date files.
- Collaborates with team members on policy development, process review and disability management initiatives.
- Consistently maintains and employs professional standards of practice and standards of ethics.
- The individual must have 7 years experience managing WCB/ STD/ LTD claims including return to work planning, knowledge of rehabilitation practices and return to work barriers
- Previous occupational injury claims experience is required and insurance company experience is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, problem solving, ability to manage competing priorities and develop processes that drive consistency
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and medical terminology
- Computer Skills (proficiency with a variety of computer systems and programs such as Microsoft Office/365)
- Experience in an unionized environment
- Related post secondary degree/diploma required. A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) or related professional designation is an asset
