Looking for a

temporary full-time Personal Support Worker-MAC to join our Dorchester Terrace team in Dorchester


Note:
Full-time evening shifts.


About the Role:

  • The Medication Assistant Certified (MAC) is a Personal Support Worker who is internally trained and assigned the responsibility for medication administration. The MAC will also be assigned resident personal care needs as part of their duties.
  • Carries out all duties in a safe manner by demonstrating skill, efficiency and due diligence of all assigned duties with mínimal supervision. This includes maintaining a clean working environment for all residents and workers.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, practices and philosophies. Works in accordance with all industry and regulatory compliance agencies, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, The Retirement Homes Act 2010 and O. Reg 166/1, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Fire Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and other pertinent legislated regulations/ standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect to resident and operational Residence matters, exercises courtesy, good judgment and concern for the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors. This includes adherence to the Social Media Policy.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of recognized Health Care Aide, Personal Support Worker Program with medication component an asset. An actively enrolled second
- or third-year nursing student may also qualify.

  • Must successfully complete the Medication Administration Certificate (MAC) training program for UCPs through pharmacy and signed off as competent by the Resident Wellness Manager or designate.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR required.
  • The ability to understand and perform duties effectively, communicate any pertinent issues regarding residents and their care and work accurately and quickly.
  • Selfdirected and teamoriented, with proficient organizational and problemsolving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be committed to multidisciplinary team work and demonstrate an ability to work through collaboration, joint decision making and integrated strategies.
  • Must successfully demonstrate critical thinking, comprehension, communication skills and ability to set priorities by completing a prescreening written assessment.
  • Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process. Must have respect, understanding and empathy for the elderly.
  • The ability to understand and followout orders so as to perform duties effectively, and communicate any pertinent issues regarding residents and their care.
  • Must successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and disclose any convictions, charges, restraining orders, probation orders and/or warrants during the course of employment that affect in any way the clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must provide a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) document or Medical Note from Physician stating free from infectious disease.
