Description

Thompson Construction Group is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Trainer in their
Fort McMurray area of operations.

Under general supervision, the Equipment Trainer will ensure the equipment is being operated according to company, client, and OH&S safety standards.

The Equipment Trainer will actively train and evaluate operators and facilitate training of employee competency with ongoing evaluations and performance reviews.


Responsibilities:


  • Must have broad knowledge of heavy equipment operation on all pieces of equipment. (Hydraulic Shovel, Excavator, Dozer, Grader, Scraper, Packer, Articulated Rock Truck, Rigid Frame Haul Truck, Water Trucks, Tractors, etc.)
  • Ensure operators are meeting company, client, and OH&S standards
  • Ensure all applicable personnel on the assigned site, complete the applicable competency requirements per Thompson's training programs, at the appropriate time
  • Deliver the Thompsons training program to all applicable personnel on the assigned site
  • Conduct applicable Evaluations and Performance Reviews as required
  • Update crew designations weekly where applicable
  • Submit weekly reports ontime and complete, as requested
  • Maintain record keeping, and training reports for Management
  • Meet the training requirements of the site Superintendent
  • Followup with operators as required
  • Coordinate, deliver, and record keep for the mine drive training on applicable sites

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 7 years of directly related experience as a heavy equipment operator including supervising and training operators
  • Experience with program development
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good public speaking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • CSTS/OSSA or BSO or CSO Certification
  • Must be able to pass a preaccess drug and alcohol test
