The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territorylocated north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested
in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:
**CONSERVATION & EDUCATION SPECIALIST
**Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Renewable Resources Department, the Conservation &
Education Specialist has the mandate to ensure ecological integrity is maintained and implement and
update the educational plans of Nunavik parks.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ensure that the ecological integrity of the Nunavik Parks are maintained:
- Implement the conservation plans;
- Design, implement and update monitoring plans;
- Propose and realize research projects designed to validate and increase knowledge of
- Analyze and monitor scientific research projects approved by the Harmonization
- Ensure that the activities of the visitors and the park employees are respectful of the
- In collaboration with Park Wardens, monitor the wildlife protection plan;
- Manage, update and deliver training to the staff concerning parks conservation and
- education missions;
- Implement and update the education plan for Nunavik parks:
- Ensure the complementary nature of park activities;
- Ensure that the yearly activities foreseen in the Education Plan are realized;
- Design and identify educational material;
- In collaboration with the local and regional education authorities, develop and deliver a
- Validate the educational components of parks communications;
- Provide expertise in the organization of interpretive activities including the presentation of
- Assist in meetings of the Harmonization Committees.
- Act as a resource person in the development of Nunavik Parks:
- For each new park created, participate in the preparation of education and conservation
- Participate in the development and realization of the park exhibitions for the interpretation
- As required, provide expertise in activities leading to the creation and opening of parks in
**QUALIFICATIONS: - Possess a university degree in the natural sciences (Biology, Geology, Geography, etc.); relevant
- experience will also be considered;
- Possess a thorough knowledge of Inuit archaeology, history and culture;
- Possess good research, analysis, summary and writing skills;
- Possess solid teamwork experience;
- Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut,
- English and French
- Possess a working knowledge of widely used computer software within a Macintosh environment
- Be available to travel frequently in Nunavik

Salary: Minimum $60 205 and maximum $ annually (Class 10)
Benefits:
Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually.
- Food allowance: minimum $3 707 annually.
- Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually;

Vacation: 20 days annually.
Statutory holidays: 19 days including 10 during the Christmas period.
