We are looking for an Assessment Services Coordinator to support our Construction Research Centre. The Assessment Services Coordinator would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


The Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) delivers a national service for the assessment of innovative and non-standardized building products and systems to determine their compliance with Canadian construction codes.

CCMC clients are manufacturers of innovative building products who benefit from accelerated and expanded access to the construction market.


The incumbent will work with a team of Evaluation Officers and technical experts who establish appropriate evaluation criteria, and assess standards, test results and engineering analyses in relation to an innovative product's compliance with the Canadian codes.

The incumbent will prepare, modify and maintain documents and publications in the form of evaluation reports and listings.

The position requires an understanding of construction processes, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with the public, clients, users and other industry stakeholders, and successfully encourage potential clients to see the benefits of using the CCMC's services.


The incumbent will support the technical work of CCMC Evaluation Officers (RCO) through project tracking, client interactions, documenting, recordkeeping and drafting publication content, as directed.

The incumbent will maintain CCMC publications through editing and updating technical content as directed by the Assessment Services Group (ASG) Team Lead or CCMC Evaluation Officers.

The incumbent will also provide client-facing support by responding to general requests for information on the CCMC's processes, fees and expected timelines, with guidance from the ASG Team Lead.


The incumbent will operate both as a team member and independently, consulting with staff in various fields related to construction products and systems, and interacting with numerous industry clients as well as with colleagues at the NRC.

A key function of the position is to support the work of CCMC and technical staff in developing assessments for new and innovative materials, products, systems and services.


Screening Criteria:


Education:

Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or another related field.

Experience:

Technical experience in at least one of the following:

  • construction engineering and/or technology;
- construction regulation (plans/design review, permitting, inspection, etc.);
- conformity assessment of construction products (development/implementation of codes, standards and/or regulations);
- project management in construction or similar environment;
- product manufacturing/product manufacturing quality systems;
- laboratory evaluation and testing of construction products;
- experience managing multiple simultaneous projects or activities; and/or
- experience writing technical reports and related documents.

  • Knowledge of building regulations, codes, standards and conformity assessment processes, and construction technology/practices.
  • Solid knowledge of officerelated information technology tools, and experience with authoring written content and correspondence with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of managing information in structured formats (databases and content management systems) and the ability to create/modify content in digital systems (basic HTML, XML, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Relocation:

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.


Compensation:

From $49,298 to $69,364 per annum.

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
